Wed Feb 12 06:38:55 UTC 2025: ## Bumrah Ruled Out of 2025 Champions Trophy; Rana and Chakaravarthy Named as Replacements

**Dubai, UAE** – Star Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has been ruled out of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 due to a persistent lower back injury, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced Tuesday. This marks the second major ICC tournament Bumrah has missed due to the same injury, having also sat out the 2022 T20 World Cup.

Bumrah underwent two scans in February, with the latest revealing no significant new issues. However, the BCCI deemed him unfit to return to competitive bowling at this time.

Harshit Rana, who recently made his ODI debut against England and impressed with five wickets in his first two matches, has been named as Bumrah’s replacement. Meanwhile, Varun Chakaravarthy, who impressed in the recent T20I series against England, has also been added to the Champions Trophy squad, replacing Yashasvi Jaiswal. Jaiswal, along with Mohammed Siraj and Shivam Dube, will serve as non-travelling substitutes and will be called upon if needed.

The final Indian squad for the Champions Trophy includes: Rohit Sharma (Captain), Shubman Gill (Vice-captain), Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul (WK), Rishabh Pant (WK), Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Kuldeep Yadav, Harshit Rana, Mohd. Shami, Arshdeep Singh, Ravindra Jadeja, and Varun Chakaravarthy. Jaiswal, Siraj, and Dube will remain on standby.
