Wed Feb 12 02:59:34 UTC 2025: ## Racist Rant on Train Sparks Outrage, Underscores Rise in Hate Crimes

**Manchester, UK –** A 26-year-old Indian-origin woman, Gabrielle Forsyth, was subjected to a vile racist tirade by a reportedly intoxicated man on a train journey from London to Manchester on Sunday. The incident, captured on video now circulating online, shows the man launching into a xenophobic rant, boasting about England’s historical conquests and using offensive language towards Ms. Forsyth and other passengers he deemed “immigrants.”

The man’s tirade, fueled by alcohol, began after Ms. Forsyth mentioned her work with a charity supporting immigrants. He aggressively confronted her, claiming England “conquered the world and gave it back,” specifically referencing India. His abusive remarks included threats, though he ultimately claimed he wouldn’t resort to violence.

The video, initially posted online but since deleted, sparked widespread outrage and led to an outpouring of online abuse directed at Ms. Forsyth herself. She reported the incident to British Transport Police (BTP).

“He heard the word ‘immigrant’ and his bodily response was anger and aggression,” Forsyth stated, highlighting the jarring nature of the encounter. She emphasized the video was recorded for her own protection, noting that all fellow passengers were visibly non-white. She also expressed concern about the ease with which violent rhetoric and hate speech can spread on social media platforms.

This incident follows a similar recent event on an Avanti West Coast train, where a female passenger directed racist abuse towards a fellow passenger. Both events underscore growing concerns about the prevalence of hate crimes and racist incidents in the UK. The BTP is investigating Forsyth’s case.
