Wed Feb 12 04:10:00 UTC 2025: ## FIITJEE Indirapuram Centre Closure Sparks Outrage, Parents File Police Complaint

**Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh –** The closure of a FIITJEE coaching centre in Indirapuram, Ghaziabad, has ignited outrage among parents who allege the institute collected nearly ₹1.75 crore in fees before abruptly shutting down, leaving students with incomplete syllabi. Thirty-five parents have filed a police complaint at the Indirapuram police station.

The centre, reportedly closed for a week, is the latest in a string of FIITJEE branches to shut down across India amidst a growing financial crisis. The crisis stems from a combination of factors, including non-payment of teacher salaries, alleged diversion of funds to unrelated businesses, and administrative actions against branches for violating licensing and fire safety regulations under the UP Coaching Regulation Act, 2002.

Teachers, some earning as much as ₹2 crore annually, reportedly experienced months of unpaid salaries, leading to mass resignations. The institute, founded nearly three decades ago by IIT Delhi alumnus D.K. Goel, boasts 72 centres across 41 cities and over 300 employees. However, the financial difficulties have led to the loss of investors and teachers, resulting in the closures. FIITJEE offers coaching for engineering and medical entrance exams, as well as foundation classes for grades 8-10.

The Ghaziabad District Inspector of Schools, Dharmendra Sharma, confirmed a recent crackdown on unregistered coaching institutes. The Indirapuram closure highlights the wider concerns about the financial stability of coaching centres and the potential impact on students. The police complaint filed by parents seeks to recover their fees and address the academic disruption caused by the abrupt closure.
