**Imphal, [Date]** – The Manipur government issued a strong appeal today urging citizens to remain vigilant against the spread of unverified news and rumors, warning that such misinformation could disrupt the state’s peace and harmony. Chief Secretary Prashant Kumar Singh stated that misleading information circulated through various channels has caused confusion and unrest, with some individuals and groups deliberately attempting to incite violence and spread fear.

To combat this, the government has established a 24/7 Control Room to verify information and urged citizens to utilize this resource. In a related development, the government announced the creation of an Integrated Anti-Extortion Cell under the Home Department. This cell, comprising representatives from the State Police, Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF), Assam Rifles, and the Army, aims to curb illegal extortion targeting civilians, government employees, and contractors.
