**Mumbai, February 9, 2025** – The recent Delhi Assembly election results, which saw the BJP defeat the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), have sparked a fresh political debate. Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut criticized social activist Anna Hazare for celebrating AAP’s loss while remaining silent on alleged corruption within the Narendra Modi-led Union government.
Mr. Raut questioned Mr. Hazare’s silence during Sunday’s press conference, stating, “Where was Hazare when corruption occurred during Modi’s rule? The country is being looted…” He further alleged irregularities in the electoral process, citing voter list discrepancies in several states and claiming elections since 2014 have been influenced by “manipulation and money power.” He suggested an AAP-Congress alliance might have altered the Delhi election outcome, highlighting the need for opposition unity.
Mr. Hazare, in a statement on Saturday, attributed the AAP’s defeat to Mr. Kejriwal’s disregard for his advice on ethical conduct and his alleged susceptibility to “money power,” referencing the now-scrapped AAP excise policy. The BJP secured 48 out of 70 seats, with Mr. Kejriwal losing his own constituency. Mr. Raut’s comments and Mr. Hazare’s criticism of Mr. Kejriwal have added fuel to the ongoing political discourse following the significant electoral shift in Delhi.
