Mon Feb 10 12:29:31 UTC 2025: ## Kohli’s Humble IPL Beginnings: One Run, a Stellar Career

**Kolkata, India (Feb 10, 2025)** – Virat Kohli, one of the world’s greatest cricketers, made his Indian Premier League (IPL) debut in 2008 with a rather inauspicious start. Playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Kohli managed only one run before being bowled out by Ashok Dinda, then a KKR bowler and now a BJP MLA.

Dinda’s performance in that match was impressive; he took two wickets, including Kohli’s, for just nine runs in three overs, contributing significantly to KKR’s resounding 140-run victory over RCB (82 all out).

While Kohli’s first match was humble, his IPL career has been anything but. He holds the unique distinction of being the only player in IPL history to represent the same team (RCB) every season. Over the years, he has become the IPL’s all-time leading run-scorer with an impressive 8004 runs. His most memorable season was 2016, where he amassed 973 runs.

Dinda, meanwhile, went on to represent India in international T20 and ODI cricket before retiring from professional cricket in early 2021. He later entered politics, winning the Moyna constituency in the 2021 West Bengal elections as a BJP candidate.
