Sun Feb 09 19:24:18 UTC 2025: ## India Clinches ODI Series Win Over England with 4-Wicket Victory in Cuttack

**Cuttack, India** – India secured a commanding 4-wicket victory over England in the second One Day International (ODI) at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack, winning the three-match series 2-0. This follows their 4-wicket win in the first ODI in Nagpur.

Rohit Sharma was the star performer for India, smashing a magnificent 119 runs. His innings, along with a solid 60 from Shubman Gill and a crucial 41 from Axar Patel, guided India to chase down England’s total of 304. The opening partnership between Sharma and Gill yielded 136 runs, laying a strong foundation for the chase. Despite contributions from Ben Duckett (65) and Joe Root (69) for England, Ravindra Jadeja proved a thorn in their side, claiming three vital wickets, including that of Root for the 13th time in their ODI careers. Other Indian bowlers contributing were Mohammed Shami, Harshit Rana, Hardik Pandya, and debutant Varun Chakravarthy, each taking a wicket.

While India’s chase wasn’t without its hiccups – losing wickets at regular intervals – Sharma’s century ensured a comfortable win. His innings included 12 fours and 7 sixes. The Indian middle order faltered somewhat, but Patel’s unbeaten knock steered the team home.

England, despite a promising start from Duckett and Salt, failed to post a truly daunting total. Livingston’s late flourish added some respectability to their score, but ultimately it wasn’t enough to prevent India from claiming the series victory. The match also saw the ODI debut of Varun Chakravarthy for India and the return of Virat Kohli to the playing XI after missing the first match due to injury. Kohli, however, made only 5 runs. The match also saw a brief interruption due to stadium lighting issues. Mohammed Shami missed out on reaching the 200 ODI wickets milestone by just one wicket.
