Sun Feb 09 17:54:12 UTC 2025: ## Samsung Accused of Vindictive Actions Against Unionized Workers in Sriperumbudur
**Chennai, February 10, 2025** – The Kancheepuram District Committee of the Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) is calling on the Tamil Nadu government to intervene in a labor dispute at the Samsung Electronics plant in Sriperumbudur. The union alleges that Samsung is maintaining a “vindictive attitude” towards unionized employees, despite assurances to the contrary.
According to E. Muthukumar, president of the Samsung India Workers Union, Samsung officials threatened continued action against workers even during a February 5th meeting with the Labour Department. This, he claims, contradicts a prior undertaking not to retaliate against employees.
In a show of solidarity, workers at all industrial units in Kancheepuram district plan to skip meals on February 13th in support of the Samsung employees. The CITU urges the government and Labour Department to pressure Samsung to end its alleged retaliatory actions and engage in an amicable resolution.
