Mon Feb 10 13:44:26 UTC 2025: ## Mumbai Police Investigate YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia Over Offensive Remarks

**Mumbai, February 10, 2025** – Mumbai police have launched an inquiry into allegations of offensive and derogatory remarks made by YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia, social media influencer Apoorva Makhija, comedian Samay Raina, and the organizers of the YouTube show “India’s Got Latent.” The inquiry follows a formal complaint filed with the Mumbai Commissioner and the Maharashtra Women’s Commission alleging the use of abusive language targeting women.

The controversy stems from a YouTube episode where Allahbadia made comments deemed offensive and derogatory. The complaint accuses the participants and organizers of intentionally making obscene remarks about women’s bodies to gain popularity and profit, highlighting the potential negative impact on young viewers. The broadcast, viewed globally, featured laughter and inappropriate jokes about women.

Following the backlash, Allahbadia issued a public apology on X (formerly Twitter) and in a video, stating his remarks were inappropriate and insensitive, expressing regret for his actions and promising to use his platform more responsibly. He has also requested the removal of the offensive content from the video.

The incident has drawn strong condemnation from various figures. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis emphasized that while freedom of speech exists, it ends where it infringes on the rights of others. Former National Commission for Women (NCW) chief Rekha Sharma expressed shock, calling the jokes unacceptable and highlighting their negative moral impact. The Shiv Sena also condemned the remarks, issuing a warning to the producers.

The complaint calls for strict legal action against all involved, including the filing of criminal cases under the Indian Penal Code and the immediate halting of the broadcast. While no arrests have been made, the Mumbai police investigation is ongoing.
