**Chennai, February 10, 2025** – V.C. Chandhirakumar of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) was sworn in as the Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) for the Erode (East) constituency on Monday. The oath was administered by Assembly Speaker M. Appavu in the presence of Chief Minister M.K. Stalin and other prominent figures.
Chandhirakumar’s victory solidifies the DMK’s position in the Tamil Nadu Assembly, bringing their total number of MLAs (excluding the Speaker) to 133 out of 234 seats. The by-election was closely watched, with significant representation from various political parties at the swearing-in ceremony, including the AIADMK, Congress, PMK, BJP, VCK, CPI, and CPI(M).
