**Rishikesh, Uttarakhand:** A 20-year-old engineering student tragically drowned in the Ganga river in Rishikesh on Sunday. Vaibhav Sharma, a second-year B.Tech student from ABES College in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, was visiting Rishikesh with friends when the accident occurred at Mastram Ghat in the Lakshmanjhula area. While bathing, he slipped and was swept away by the current.
The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) was immediately alerted and launched a search operation. After a 30-minute search, divers recovered Sharma’s body from a depth of 20 to 25 feet. His body has been recovered and the incident is being investigated.
