Sun Feb 09 14:49:23 UTC 2025: ## Ed Sheeran Briefly Halted by Bengaluru Police During Impromptu Busking Session

**Bengaluru, India** – Global superstar Ed Sheeran’s India tour took an unexpected turn on February 9th when Bengaluru police briefly interrupted his impromptu performance on Church Street. While Sheeran claims to have obtained prior permission for the street gig, police officers reportedly stopped his performance of “Shape of You” approximately one minute in, disconnecting his microphone before recognizing the singer.

A video of the incident, circulating widely on social media, shows Sheeran playing his guitar and singing to a large gathering before the interruption. Police reportedly acted initially because the performance appeared unauthorized. Sheeran later clarified the situation on Instagram, stating that the busking performance was pre-planned and permitted.

Despite the minor incident, Sheeran’s concerts at the NICE Grounds in Bengaluru continue as scheduled. The singer-songwriter, who expressed his excitement about his large Indian fanbase, is performing as part of his Mathematics Tour, adding an extra show in Bengaluru due to high demand – making it the only Indian city with back-to-back performances on this tour. The tour, which encompasses performances across Chennai, Shillong, and Delhi-NCR, marks Sheeran’s return to India after previous visits in 2015 and 2017.
