Sun Feb 09 05:05:31 UTC 2025: ## Plane Crash Kills Two, Injures Several in Sao Paulo

**Sao Paulo, Brazil** – A small aircraft crashed into a busy avenue in Sao Paulo’s Barra Funda neighborhood on Friday morning, resulting in the deaths of the pilot and a prominent influencer. The incident, which occurred near a major transportation hub, also injured several people on a bus and a motorcyclist.

The victims have been identified as pilot Gustavo Carneiro Medeiros, 44, and Marcio Louzada Carpena, 49, a lawyer, motivational speaker, and law professor with a large social media following. Carpena, a father of three, was also known for his inspirational content.

The plane, en route to Porto Alegre, crashed into the rear of a public bus shortly after takeoff from a nearby private airport. One woman on the bus sustained injuries, as did a motorcyclist. Four others received minor injuries.

Dramatic video footage captured by local media and CCTV cameras shows the plane impacting the avenue at high speed, followed by a fire engulfing the wreckage and a portion of the bus. Firefighters quickly responded to extinguish the blaze.

The Brazilian Air Force has launched a full investigation into the cause of the crash, which occurred less than 3 miles from the point of departure. Authorities are yet to determine the cause, although the incident is the latest in a string of deadly small aircraft accidents in Brazil in recent years. Last August, a passenger plane crash near Sao Paulo killed all 72 people on board. The bustling location of Friday’s crash, surrounded by office buildings and public transportation, highlighted the potential for significant casualties.
