Cuttack, India – India defeated England by 4 wickets in the second One Day International (ODI) match on Sunday, February 9th, at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack. This victory gives India an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series.
England, winning the toss and electing to bat first, were bowled out for 304 runs in 49.5 overs. Rohit Sharma led India’s chase with a magnificent century (119 runs off 90 balls), guiding his team to victory with 308 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in 44.3 overs. Shubman Gill also contributed significantly with a 60-run knock. Axar Patel (41*) and Ravindra Jadeja (11*) remained unbeaten at the end, securing the win. For England, Jamie Overton took 2 wickets.
Earlier, England’s innings saw contributions from Ben Duckett (65), Joe Root (69), and Liam Livingstone (41), but consistent Indian bowling, spearheaded by Ravindra Jadeja’s 3 wickets, restricted their total.
India made two changes to their playing XI from the first ODI, bringing back Virat Kohli (who missed the first match due to a knee injury) and replacing Kuldeep Yadav with Varun Chakravarthy. England also made three changes to their team.
