**NEW DELHI** – Newly elected BJP MLA Parvesh Verma has used a viral video and Urdu poetry to taunt Delhi’s outgoing Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal following the BJP’s resounding victory in the Delhi Assembly elections. The BJP secured 48 seats, ending AAP’s 10-year rule and significantly reducing AAP’s tally to 22 seats.

Verma, who defeated Kejriwal in the New Delhi constituency, shared a video on X (formerly Twitter) juxtaposing Kejriwal’s pre-election boast that the BJP couldn’t defeat AAP in Delhi, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s campaign speeches highlighting the “AAPda” (AAP disaster). The video concludes with the BJP’s victory numbers.

Accompanying the video, Verma posted a couplet adapted from renowned Urdu poet Habib Jalib, implying Kejriwal’s perceived overconfidence. The lines roughly translate to: “The one who sat on the throne earlier believed he was God.” Jalib’s poetry is often used to criticize authoritarianism.

Verma, a former two-time Lok Sabha MP, is now considered a frontrunner for the post of Delhi Chief Minister, though the BJP is yet to officially announce its choice. Party president JP Nadda met with Union Home Minister Amit Shah to discuss government formation, with the swearing-in ceremony possibly taking place after Prime Minister Modi returns from his US trip.
