Fri Feb 07 22:14:02 UTC 2025: ## US Approves $7.4 Billion Arms Sale to Israel Amidst Gaza War Aftermath

**Washington D.C.** – The United States has approved a massive $7.4 billion arms sale to Israel, encompassing bombs, missiles, and related equipment. The deal, announced Friday, includes $6.75 billion in bombs, guidance kits, and fuses, along with $660 million in Hellfire missiles, according to the Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA).

The DSCA stated the sale will enhance Israel’s ability to counter current and future threats, bolster its homeland defense, and serve as a regional deterrent. The agency specifically highlighted the improvement to the Israeli Air Force’s capacity to defend borders, infrastructure, and population centers.

This announcement comes in the wake of the devastating October 2023 war in Gaza, triggered by a Hamas attack on Israel. While a ceasefire has since been implemented, the conflict caused widespread destruction and displacement within the Gaza Strip.

The sale has drawn some scrutiny. The Biden administration previously blocked a shipment of larger bombs to Israel due to concerns over civilian casualties. However, the current administration has approved this significant arms package.

Although the State Department has given its approval, the sale still requires Congressional authorization. However, given Israel’s status as a key US ally, Congressional opposition is considered unlikely.
