**MUMBAI, February 8, 2025** – The much-hyped Bollywood romantic comedy “Loveyapa,” starring Khushi Kapoor and Junaid Khan, opened to a disappointing Rs 1.25 crore on its first day, according to early estimates. Despite a lavish marketing campaign and a star-studded premiere attended by Bollywood’s “three Khans,” the film failed to attract significant audiences, registering a mere 9.56% occupancy across approximately 2,300 screens.
The film, directed by Advait Chandan, is a remake of the successful 2022 Tamil film “Love Today.” While the original was a box office hit, the Hindi adaptation, reportedly made on a budget of Rs 60 crore, is facing an uphill battle to recoup its costs. Mixed early reviews are cited as a possible contributing factor to the underwhelming performance.
Adding to “Loveyapa’s” woes is the strong competition from Himesh Reshammiya’s “Badass Ravikumar,” which debuted with Rs 2.75 crore. The poor performance of recent Bollywood remakes, including “Baby John” and “Deva,” suggests a growing audience fatigue with rehashed content. The coming days will be crucial in determining whether positive word-of-mouth can revive the film’s box office prospects.
