Sat Feb 08 04:50:01 UTC 2025: ## BJP Wins Delhi Elections in Landslide Victory, Ending AAP’s Reign
**New Delhi, February 8, 2025** – The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has secured a resounding victory in the Delhi Assembly elections, ending the Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) seven-year rule. Early trends indicated a significant lead for the BJP, which ultimately translated into a projected win of around 40 seats, compared to AAP’s approximately 29. The Congress party secured a mere 1 seat.
While most exit polls had predicted a BJP victory, the scale of the win surpassed many expectations. Several polls, including P-Marq Peoples Pulse, JVC Poll, People’s insight and Chanakya Strategies, forecast a comfortable BJP majority. Only Mind Blink and Wee Preside predicted a landslide win for AAP.
Key AAP figures, including Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal (New Delhi constituency) and Manish Sisodia (Jangpura), faced setbacks, although Kejriwal ultimately maintained a lead in his constituency. BJP leaders attributed their success to public dissatisfaction with AAP’s governance and alleged corruption.
This victory marks a historic moment for the BJP, returning them to power in Delhi after a 27-year absence. For AAP, the defeat ends their bid for a third consecutive term. The BJP’s projected vote share of nearly 50% underscores the magnitude of their win. The election results concluded with a BJP majority government being formed.
