**NEW DELHI** – As vote counting continues for the Delhi Assembly elections, early trends indicate a BJP majority. However, a surprising development is unfolding in the Badli constituency, where Congress candidate Devendra Yadav is currently leading.
Yadav, who also contested the seat in 2015 and 2020, has maintained his lead throughout the initial vote counts. Both Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra campaigned extensively for him in this constituency. He faces stiff competition from Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) Ajit Yadav, the sitting MLA who won by a significant margin in 2020, and BJP’s Ahir Deepak Chaudhary.
In the 2020 elections, AAP’s Ajit Yadav secured a resounding victory with 69,427 votes (49.65% vote share), defeating BJP’s Vijay Kumar Bhagat by a margin of 29,094 votes. Yadav also won the 2015 elections against Congress’s Devendra Yadav.
