**CHENNAI, February 5, 2025** – Amateur astronomers are in for a treat this February, with a spectacular celestial display promising sightings of at least six planets, a full moon, a new moon, and a rare planetary alignment.
According to The Hindu, the month kicks off with a planetary parade featuring Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune, visible nightly from sunset until around 9:30 p.m. This alignment culminates on February 28th with the addition of Mercury, creating a breathtaking seven-planet alignment. Venus will shine brightest after sunset, easily visible above the western horizon.
February 12th marks a full moon, also known as the Snow Moon or Hunger Moon by early Native American tribes. Conversely, a new moon on February 28th will offer optimal viewing conditions for galaxies and star clusters due to the absence of moonlight.
Adding to the celestial spectacle, stargazers can spot the Beehive Cluster (M44) on Valentine’s Day, a collection of approximately 1,000 stars in the Cancer constellation. Visible to the naked eye under dark skies, the cluster is best viewed through a telescope and reaches its highest point around an hour before midnight on February 14th.
