Sat Feb 08 03:11:13 UTC 2025: ## Smith’s Century Streak Continues: Another Ton in Sri Lanka

**Colombo, Sri Lanka:** Australian batting star Steve Smith continued his prolific run of centuries, smashing his 36th Test hundred in the ongoing second Test against Sri Lanka. This latest ton, his seventh in Asia and 17th as captain, came off just 191 balls. The innings further cemented Smith’s place among cricket’s all-time greats.

Smith’s achievement is even more impressive considering his recent form. He has now scored five centuries in his last eight professional matches, including one in the Big Bash League (BBL). This current Sri Lankan tour has yielded two centuries alone.

The innings also saw Smith surpass several milestones. He’s now the second-highest run-scorer with over 10,000 Test runs at the highest average, second only to Kumar Sangakkara. He’s ahead of legends like Jacques Kallis and Sachin Tendulkar in this regard. Furthermore, Smith has become the Australian with the most Test centuries scored in Asia, surpassing Allan Border’s previous record of six.

Smith is now second on the list of Australian batsmen with the most Test centuries, trailing only Ricky Ponting’s 41. Given that Smith has played significantly fewer matches (116 compared to Ponting’s 168), he is well-positioned to surpass Ponting’s record in the future.
