**Chennai, India –** Ajith Kumar’s highly anticipated film, “Vidaamuyarchi,” debuted in theaters on Thursday to a strong response, grossing an impressive ₹22 crore (nett) in India on its opening day, according to Sacnilk. The film, directed by Magizh Thirumeni and starring Ajith Kumar alongside Trisha, Arjun Sarja, Regina Cassandra, Arav, and Vijay Ramya, saw high occupancy rates across the country, with Trichy and Pondicherry leading with over 90%. Chennai also reported a strong 88.33% occupancy.
Despite the impressive opening, “Vidaamuyarchi” failed to surpass the opening day collection of Ajith Kumar’s previous film, “Thunivu,” which raked in ₹24.4 crore. The film, set against the backdrop of Azerbaijan, follows a couple on the brink of divorce who find themselves in a perilous situation when one goes missing.
“Vidaamuyarchi,” originally slated for a January 2025 release, faced delays before its theatrical debut. The film, made on a reported budget of ₹200 crore, features Ajith Kumar’s remuneration estimated between ₹110-120 crore. The film’s soundtrack is composed by Anirudh Ravichander.
