Fri Feb 07 13:26:59 UTC 2025: ## Bengaluru to Get a Sparkling Makeover with Illuminated Metro Pillars and Flyovers
**Bengaluru, India** – Bengaluru is set for a significant aesthetic upgrade with plans to illuminate Metro pillars, flyovers, medians, and carriageways across the city. Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar announced the initiative, a key component of the ‘Brand Bengaluru’ project, aimed at enhancing the city’s visual appeal and overall urban experience.
The project will involve a collaboration between the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) and the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP). To generate revenue for the beautification efforts, advertisement billboards will be installed on Metro pillars. The BBMP will manage the advertising tenders, while the BMRCL will provide the space. Revenue generated will be shared between the two bodies, with a portion dedicated to illuminating the Metro pillars themselves.
BBMP officials expect the illumination project to not only enhance Bengaluru’s nighttime beauty but also improve safety and security in public spaces. The added lighting will improve visibility, particularly in areas with existing poor lighting. The revenue sharing arrangement with the BBMP is justified, officials explain, because the Metro pillars are situated on BBMP-owned land. The initiative is expected to significantly boost the city’s image and create a more vibrant urban environment.
