Thu Feb 06 09:27:29 UTC 2025: ## Thousands Displaced as Israeli Raids in West Bank Intensify

**AMMAN, JORDAN –** Over two weeks of intensified Israeli military raids in the West Bank have resulted in the displacement of thousands of Palestinian families and the demolition of dozens of homes, according to Al Jazeera and other reports. The Israeli military claims the operations are a “counterterrorism” effort targeting armed Palestinian fighters. However, critics contend that the actions disproportionately affect civilians.

The raids, concentrated in Jenin, Tulkarem, and Nablus refugee camps, have led to the displacement of approximately 26,000 Palestinians, forcing them to flee their homes. The Israeli army has destroyed numerous residential buildings, with claims that some housed military infrastructure, though no evidence has been provided. These actions, critics argue, mirror the devastation witnessed in Gaza.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health reports that at least 70 Palestinians, including 10 children, have been killed in the West Bank since the beginning of the year, with 38 deaths in Jenin alone. The overall death toll since the start of the Gaza conflict on October 7, 2023, stands at at least 884 Palestinians, according to the Ministry. The Israeli military’s actions have also severely hampered access to essential services, including healthcare, according to Doctors Without Borders (MSF). MSF’s report highlights the “perpetual emergency” facing the West Bank healthcare system, citing “systematic interference” by Israeli forces and settlers. The increased checkpoints throughout the region have severely restricted Palestinian movement, impacting access to work, education, and healthcare. The situation is further exacerbated by the ongoing conflict in Gaza, where over 61,709 deaths have been reported.
