**Alappuzha, February 6, 2025** – Joseph Kora, an 83-year-old farmer from Ramankary in Kuttanad, has been selected for the prestigious R. Heli Smaraka Karshakasreshta Award. The award, presented by the Alappuzha District Agri-Horticultural Society, recognizes Mr. Kora’s dedication to integrated farming practices.
District Collector Alex Varghese announced the award on Thursday. It includes a cash prize of ₹15,000, a citation, and a plaque. The Collector praised Mr. Kora as an inspiration to other farmers in the district.
The award, established in memory of former Director of Agriculture R. Heli, will be formally presented by Agriculture Minister P. Prasad at a ceremony at the Alappuzha District Collectorate during the first week of March.
