**Chennai, February 6, 2025** – Australian all-rounder Marcus Stoinis has announced his retirement from One Day International (ODI) cricket, effective immediately. The 35-year-old cited a desire to focus solely on T20 cricket as the reason for his departure.

In a statement released Thursday, Stoinis expressed gratitude for his time representing Australia in ODIs, highlighting the experience as an “incredible journey.” He thanked Australian coach Andrew McDonald for his support and acknowledged the difficult nature of the decision.

Stoinis’ retirement comes after a successful career spanning 71 ODIs, during which he amassed 1,495 runs and claimed 48 wickets. He was a key member of Australia’s 2023 ODI World Cup-winning team and was also named Australia’s ODI Cricketer of the Year in 2018-19. His final ODI appearance was against Pakistan in Perth last November. While initially included in Australia’s provisional squad for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy in Pakistan, Stoinis will not be participating in the tournament.
