Wed Feb 05 16:46:24 UTC 2025: ## Karnataka’s Kaveri 2.0 Portal Back Online After DDoS Attack
**Bengaluru, February 5, 2025** – The Karnataka government’s Kaveri 2.0 property registration portal, which suffered a week-long Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack, is fully operational again as of Wednesday. This was announced by K.A. Dayananda, Inspector General of Registration and Commissioner of Stamps (IGR&CS).
Wednesday saw 7,225 registrations and a revenue collection of ₹62.59 crore, figures close to the December 2024 average of 7,721 registrations and ₹62.93 crore, respectively. This indicates a return to normal activity after the attack, which began on January 13th and significantly reduced registrations to 556 on February 1st and 1657 on February 4th.
Revenue Minister Krishna Byre Gowda described the attack as a “concerted, motivated campaign” using bots that mutated in response to the e-Governance Department’s countermeasures. While the portal is functioning, Mr. Gowda cautioned that a complete stabilization may take a few days, and a backlog in property registrations is expected.
The government has engaged experts from the International Institute of Information Technology, Bangalore, to enhance the portal’s security and prevent future attacks. The e-Governance Department has also been instructed to file a police complaint to investigate the perpetrators and hold them accountable. Enhanced security measures are now in place to mitigate future risks, according to the IGR&CS statement.
