**Galle, Sri Lanka** – Cooper Connolly, a 23-year-old spin-bowling all-rounder, made his highly anticipated Test debut for Australia against Sri Lanka on Thursday. The young cricketer received his Baggy Green cap – number 471 – from former Australian batsman Simon Katich at the Galle International Cricket Stadium.

Connolly’s father, Shane, a former player and coach, expressed immense pride, stating his son would approach the match with a positive attitude and wouldn’t “die wondering.” His mother, Donna, shared that Cooper had dreamt of playing Test cricket since he was a young boy.

Connolly replaces off-spinner Todd Murphy in the Australian eleven.
