**Vemulawada, Telangana:** In a unique celebration, Telangana artists held a Bonalu festival honoring Google and YouTube, platforms they credit with boosting their careers. The event, held Wednesday in Vemulawada, Rajanna Siricilla district, saw a large gathering of folk singers, dancers, and actors offering prayers to Goddess Baddi Pochamma, symbolically representing Google Amma and YouTube Thalli.
The “Google Amma Bonalu” and “YouTube Thalli Bonalu” were organized as part of the second anniversary celebrations of the IT Forum, according to singer Mounika Yadav, known for her song “Sami Sami” from the movie “Pushpa.” She explained the event aimed to foster unity among artists who have gained recognition and livelihood through these online platforms.
Hundreds of artists from the erstwhile Karimnagar district participated in the festivities, which included traditional performances and a communal meal. Organizers stated their intention to make this a yearly event, showcasing their gratitude for the opportunities provided by the internet giants. The celebration highlights the significant role of online platforms in promoting Telangana’s rich folk arts and culture, providing a platform for emerging artists to gain recognition.
