**Thodupuzha, Kerala, February 6, 2025** – C.V. Varghese has been re-elected as the district secretary of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] in Idukki district, Kerala, concluding a three-day conference held in Thodupuzha. This marks his second term in the position. The 39-member district committee saw the inclusion of four new members and the exclusion of four others.
Addressing a public meeting, CPI(M) State secretary M.V. Govindan accused the Christian Association and Alliance for Social Action (CASA) of being a front for the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), stating that while Christians are presented as leaders, the RSS exerts real control. He leveled similar criticism against the SDPI. Govindan also criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s silence on the deportation of illegal immigrants from the United States to India, highlighting the international condemnation of the US actions while contrasting it with India’s lack of response. Varghese, in his acceptance speech, pledged to continue working for the people of Idukki.
