**Mangaluru, February 6, 2025** – A delay in connecting a City Gas Station (CGS) in Mangaluru to the main natural gas pipeline is causing a CNG shortage in the Udupi district, according to a Lok Sabha reply. The delay stems from a pending permission issue with the Kudremukh Iron Ore Company, impacting Adani Total Gas Limited (ATGL)’s plans.
Responding to a question from Udupi-Chikkamagaluru MP Kota Srinivas Poojary regarding long CNG queues in Udupi, Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas Suresh Gopi explained that ATGL, responsible for the Udupi CGD network, has been hampered by the unresolved permission issue. While ATGL has already established 10 out of a planned 11 CNG stations in the district, the Panambur CGS remains unconnected to the Kochi-Koottanad-Bengaluru-Mangaluru pipeline.
The Minister stated that ATGL is currently supplying CNG through “cascades” from neighboring areas while working to resolve the permission issue with Kudremukh Iron Ore Company. The company’s progress is being monitored by the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB). The full completion of the CNG network in the Udupi district is still scheduled for 2030.
