**New Delhi, India** – The deportation of over 100 Indian nationals from the United States has sparked outrage and protests in India’s Parliament. AIMIM MP Asaduddin Owaisi criticized the manner of their return, questioning the government’s handling of the situation and highlighting the broader issue of unemployment in India.

Owaisi cited a Pew Research Center report indicating that approximately 675,000 undocumented Indian immigrants remain in the US, with 18,000 more reportedly on a deportation list. He argued that the deportations will negatively impact remittances and called for the government to address the needs of these individuals. He further linked the deportations to India’s high youth unemployment rate (estimated at 45%), suggesting that desperation drives many to seek opportunities abroad, often through exploitative agents.

The controversy led to the adjournment of both houses of Parliament on Thursday, with the opposition demanding a discussion on the issue. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar is scheduled to address the Rajya Sabha later today. Congress MPs have formally requested a debate on the matter. A US Air Force plane carrying the deported individuals landed in Amritsar, Punjab, on Wednesday.
