Thu Feb 06 07:26:52 UTC 2025: ## Exit Polls Predict BJP Landslide Victory in Delhi Assembly Elections
**New Delhi, February 7, 2025** – Exit polls released Tuesday evening predict a comfortable victory for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the Delhi Assembly elections, potentially ending the Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) three-time reign. Most polls forecast the BJP securing between 35 and 50 seats in the 70-member assembly.
While various agencies offered slightly different projections, a consensus emerged pointing towards a BJP win. For instance, P-Mark predicted 39-49 seats for the BJP and 21-31 for AAP, while Times Now-CVoter projected 39-45 for BJP and 22-31 for AAP. However, People’s Pulse offered the most optimistic forecast for the BJP, with a prediction of 51-60 seats and just 10-19 for AAP.
The election saw a 57.70% voter turnout by 5 PM, according to the Election Commission of India. This is lower than the turnout in the previous two elections, both of which saw AAP win over 60 seats.
Reactions to the exit polls were sharply divided. While BJP leaders expressed confidence, celebrating what they see as a rejection of AAP’s governance, AAP leaders dismissed the polls, pointing to their past inaccuracy and predicting a significant victory for Arvind Kejriwal. Congress leaders offered cautious optimism, citing localized improvements.
AAP spokesperson Priyanka Kakkar stated that exit polls have historically been wrong about AAP’s performance, emphasizing their past landslide victories. BJP MP Kamaljeet Sarao countered, citing public dissatisfaction with AAP’s ten-year rule. Congress candidate Abhishek Dutt claimed a decline in AAP’s vote share and a strong Congress showing. Other AAP leaders echoed Kakkar’s sentiment, predicting a historic win for Kejriwal.
The BJP’s projected success is attributed by some to highlighting AAP’s alleged corruption and the public’s desire for improved governance and development under PM Modi’s vision. BJP leaders like Harsh Malhotra emphasized the exposure of AAP’s alleged corrupt practices over the past decade.
Several exit polls, including Republic-Matrize and Chanakya Strategies, also predicted BJP’s comfortable win, with varying seat projections. However, some discrepancies were noted, with People’s Pulse and Codmo even predicting a near total wipeout for AAP and Congress.
The final results will be announced on February 8th, 2025. The election witnessed some reports of irregularities, including alleged instances of fake voting and vote buying, prompting concerns from various candidates. The Election Commission is yet to comment on these claims.
