Wed Feb 05 00:10:00 UTC 2025: ## Fast-Moving Storm to Bring Mixed Precipitation to New England Thursday
**BOSTON, MA –** A fast-moving storm system will bring a quick burst of mixed precipitation to New England Thursday, transitioning from snow to sleet, freezing rain, and eventually rain across much of the region. The storm is expected to impact the area for only six to eight hours, with conditions improving by mid-afternoon.
While western areas, including parts of Massachusetts west of I-495 and extending into Pittsfield, as well as New Hampshire, Vermont, and Maine, will primarily see snowfall, the Boston area and southern New England will experience a more varied precipitation pattern. Snow is anticipated to begin around sunrise, quickly changing to sleet or freezing rain before transitioning to all rain along the coast and in southeastern Massachusetts and areas south of Providence.
