**Cape Town, South Africa** – MICT have secured their place in the SA20 final after a resounding 39-run victory over the Paarl Royals in Qualifier 1. The wooden-spooners of the previous two editions continued their fairytale run, extending their winning streak to six consecutive matches.
MICT, batting first, posted a challenging 199 thanks to several key contributions. Their bowlers then delivered a clinical performance, restricting Paarl to a well below-par total despite a late flourish from some of their batters. David Miller’s valiant effort for Paarl was insufficient, ultimately ending with a comprehensive defeat for his side.
Player of the Match Delano Potgieter praised MICT’s top-order batsmen for providing a solid platform, allowing the team to accelerate in the later stages of the innings. He also highlighted the strength of their bowling attack, which proved too much for Paarl to overcome.
Rashid Khan, celebrating his team’s top-table finish, attributed their success to the team’s collective effort under pressure and the strong opening partnership provided by Rickelton and Rassie. Miller, reflecting on Paarl’s loss, acknowledged their poor start and costly errors in the final stages of their innings.
Despite the defeat, Paarl will have another opportunity to reach the final in Qualifier 2. Their next opponent will be the winner of the match between SEC and JSK. Paarl will need to address their batting shortcomings if they hope to challenge MICT for the championship.
