Tue Feb 04 18:33:40 UTC 2025: ## Modi Targets Kejriwal Amidst Delhi Election Eve, Accusing Him of Lavish Spending on CM Residence

**New Delhi, March 6, 2024** – Just one day before crucial Delhi assembly elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a scathing attack on Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal during the fourth day of the ongoing Budget Session. Speaking in Lok Sabha while replying to the Motion of Thanks on the President’s Address, Modi contrasted the central government’s focus on providing basic necessities like water to every home with what he characterized as Kejriwal’s extravagant spending.

The Prime Minister’s remarks allude to a Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report which alleges Kejriwal spent over ₹33 crore on renovating his official residence. The report details allegedly lavish purchases, including an ₹28.9 lakh 88-inch 8K OLED TV, two steam ovens costing ₹6.5 lakh, and beds and sofas totaling ₹13 lakh. The report also highlights the installation of a jacuzzi, sauna, and spa at a cost of ₹19.5 lakh.

Kejriwal has dismissed the allegations.

The ongoing Budget Session, which commenced on January 31st with Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presenting the Union Budget, continues until February 13th. The session will resume on March 10th and conclude on April 4th. The timing of Modi’s criticism, on the eve of the Delhi elections, is seen as a significant political maneuver.
