**Cape Canaveral, FL** – SpaceX successfully launched two WorldView Legion satellites for Maxar Technologies on Wednesday evening, marking the company’s second Falcon 9 launch of the day. The launch, designated Maxar 3, took place from Launch Complex 39A at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center at 6:13 p.m. EST.
The Falcon 9 rocket, utilizing booster 1086 on its fourth flight, successfully deployed the twin satellites into a mid-inclination Earth orbit (MEO) approximately 47 minutes and 1 hour 50 minutes after liftoff. The booster itself executed a precision landing at Landing Zone 1 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station less than eight minutes after launch.
These two satellites, manufactured by Maxar Space Systems, complete Maxar’s initial block of WorldView Legion satellites. They join four others already operating in MEO, augmenting the company’s 30 cm-class satellite imagery capabilities. Maxar claims this expansion increases its daily 30cm-class image collection capacity by 85% over mid-latitudes, providing unparalleled high-resolution imagery to customers via its subscription services.
The launch was covered live by Spaceflight Now. This mission significantly enhances Maxar’s ability to provide high-quality, geographically accurate imagery to its clients worldwide.
