**Bengaluru, February 5, 2025** – Two large rallies took place in Bengaluru today to mark World Cancer Day, highlighting the importance of early detection and prevention.

The Kidwai Memorial Institute of Oncology, a state-run hospital, organized an awareness march from its premises to Lalbagh. Around 500 participants, including doctors, nurses, medical students, and actor Vasishtha Simha, took part. Administrator Naveen Bhat Y. emphasized the crucial role of early detection, regular screenings, vaccination, and a healthy lifestyle in controlling cancer. He highlighted the state government’s support for cancer diagnosis and treatment, and the Kidwai Institute’s commitment to providing quality care. Simha urged the public not to panic upon hearing a cancer diagnosis, stressing the importance of early detection and appropriate treatment.

Separately, the Indian Medical Association (IMA) Bengaluru branch organized a rally with over 200 participants, including staff from Regal Hospital and Dasappa Memorial Institute of Oncology. IMA president Vijayanand stressed the preventative measures available, including vaccination against virus-related cancers and adopting a healthy lifestyle to reduce the risk. Both rallies underscored the importance of avoiding smoking, alcohol, and tobacco.
