Wed Feb 05 03:30:00 UTC 2025: ## Bengaluru Students Tackle Climate Change Through Immersive Learning Program

**Bengaluru, February 5, 2025** – Students in Bengaluru are taking a hands-on approach to learning about climate change, thanks to a unique educational initiative called “Thicket Tales.” The program, founded by Sai Devi Sanjeeviraja, uses immersive nature experiences to connect academic subjects with real-world environmental issues.

Instead of simply learning about climate change in the classroom, students participate in a three-stage process. First, they engage in nature-based learning to visualize climate concepts. This is followed by place-based projects, such as mapping urbanization trends. Finally, they identify and work towards solutions for a climate issue affecting their own neighbourhoods.

Thicket Tales specifically targets government-aided and low-income private schools, providing hands-on education that encourages active citizenship. Lead facilitators highlight the transformative effect the program has on students, particularly boosting confidence and participation, especially among girls. Initially hesitant, students quickly become engaged and empowered to contribute to solutions.

Currently, Thicket Tales runs two programs: “Learn Around Nature,” which focuses on local climate issues, and “Backward Study Retreat,” which explores the role of green spaces in climate resilience. This year, the initiative engaged 770 children and 134 adults.

The program’s success is evident in a series of exhibitions showcasing student projects. The first exhibition was held at CES English School on February 2nd, with four more planned across Bengaluru throughout February.

Thicket Tales aims to shift perspectives, enabling individuals to see themselves as active participants in combating climate change. By providing a structured space for engagement and reflection, the program empowers students and adults to contribute to a more sustainable future.
