Mon Feb 03 22:30:14 IST 2025: ## Chennai Police Arrest Two Officers Again in Extortion Case; Another Officer Sentenced for Bribery
**CHENNAI, February 3, 2025** – Two police officers, a Sub-Inspector (SI) and a Special Sub-Inspector (SSI), have been rearrested in Chennai in connection with an extortion case. Sunny Lloyd, SI attached to Saidapet police station, and Raja Singh, SSI of Triplicane police station, were initially arrested last December along with three Income Tax officers for allegedly extorting ₹20 lakh from a man.
Following further investigation and a confession from Lloyd, police have re-arrested the pair, revealing a second similar extortion incident involving another ₹20 lakh. Incriminating documents related to properties in Avadi and Velachery were also recovered during a search in Lloyd’s native Pudukadai, Kanniyakumari district.
In a separate case, a Special Court sentenced SSI Jayakumar to five years rigorous imprisonment and a ₹1 lakh fine for accepting a ₹1,500 bribe. The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) reported that Jayakumar demanded the bribe from a man to return a blank cheque and unsigned stamp paper that were used in a loan dispute. Jayakumar was arrested in a sting operation conducted by the DVAC on February 4, 2011.
