**Cuddalore, February 4, 2025** – NLC India Limited (NLCIL) reported a significant 28% surge in profit after tax (PAT) for the quarter ending December 31, 2024, reaching ₹2,245 crore compared to ₹1,754 crore in the same period last year. This impressive performance is attributed to record-breaking coal production and power generation.
The public sector undertaking (PSU) achieved an all-time high coal production of 115.16 lakh tonnes, a 40.11% increase year-on-year. Gross power generation also reached a new peak of 20,568 million units, including 1,579 million units from renewable energy sources. Furthermore, the Ghatampur Thermal Power Plant (GTPP) Unit 1 (660 MW) in Uttar Pradesh commenced commercial operations.
NLCIL’s expansion plans are also progressing rapidly. The company announced new joint ventures, including a partnership with Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (RVUNL) to build a 375 MW lignite-based thermal power station in Rajasthan and another with Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL) for a 1,000 MW solar power project in Assam.
The NLCIL Board approved an interim dividend of ₹1.50 per share. The company’s strong financial results and ambitious expansion strategy signal a positive outlook for the future.
