Tue Feb 04 01:20:00 UTC 2025: **Neil Gaiman Faces Multiple Lawsuits Alleging Rape, Human Trafficking**
NEW YORK, NY – Author Neil Gaiman is facing three lawsuits alleging rape, human trafficking, and other serious sexual misconduct. The lawsuits were filed in Wisconsin, New York, and Massachusetts by Scarlett Pavlovich, a former nanny for Gaiman and his wife, Amanda Palmer’s, son. Pavlovich claims that Gaiman sexually abused her and that Palmer was complicit, knowingly placing Pavlovich in harm’s way.
The complaints, totaling 28 pages, detail graphic allegations of abuse spanning several years. Pavlovich is seeking at least $1 million in damages and a jury trial. The allegations corroborate details from a recent New York Magazine article and a Tortoise Media podcast which featured similar claims from multiple women.
While Gaiman has denied the allegations in a previous blog post, the lawsuits have resulted in significant professional consequences. He has been dropped by his UK agent, his publisher Dark Horse Comics canceled the upcoming Anansi Boys comic, and a UK stage production of *Coraline* was canceled. Additionally, production on a Disney adaptation of *The Graveyard Book* has been paused and the upcoming second season of Netflix’s *The Sandman* will now be its last. Amazon also scaled back Season 3 of *Good Omens* to a single 90-minute episode.
The lawsuits also name Amanda Palmer as a defendant, alleging she knew of Gaiman’s behavior and failed to warn Pavlovich. The multi-state filings are due to uncertainty about Palmer’s current residence. Palmer and Gaiman separated during the pandemic and announced their divorce in November 2022. Palmer has not yet publicly commented on the lawsuits beyond a cryptic Instagram post made several weeks ago. This developing story will continue to be updated as more information becomes available.
