**New Delhi/Bengaluru –** A delegation of disgruntled BJP MLAs from Karnataka arrived in Delhi on Monday to demand the ouster of state party president B Y Vijayendra. Led by MLA Ramesh Jarkiholi, the group, which includes former legislators and is expected to grow to include several more MLAs on Tuesday, plans a two-day stay in the capital to lobby with BJP national president J P Nadda.
The rebels, citing recent by-election losses and accusing Vijayendra of ineffective leadership and “adjustment politics,” are aiming to force a change before the upcoming state party president elections. They allege Vijayendra has failed to mount a strong opposition to the Congress government. Should their demands be ignored, the group has threatened to field a rival candidate against Vijayendra in the upcoming elections, a move that could severely fracture the party.
The delegation, which visited the Chamundeshwari temple in Mysuru before their trip, believes their chances of meeting with Nadda are strong, citing a recent meeting between Nadda and one of the rebel leaders. Despite a busy schedule in Delhi, including the Assembly elections and budget session, the rebels remain optimistic about securing a meeting and achieving their goal.
