**Bengaluru, February 4, 2025** – Madivala police have arrested a 37-year-old inter-state burglar, Panchakshari Sangayya Swamy, responsible for over 150 house break-ins across four states. Swamy’s arrest followed a burglary in Maruthi Nagar on January 9th. Police tracked him down using CCTV footage showing him and an accomplice carrying a distinctive handbag stolen from the house. The victim identified the bag, leading police to Swamy near Madivala market. Despite attempting to evade capture by changing clothes, the handbag ultimately led to his arrest.
Swamy, a native of Solapur, Maharashtra, is wanted in Gujarat, Telangana, and Maharashtra, in addition to Karnataka. Police recovered 181 grams of gold and 333 grams of silver (worth ₹12.5 lakh) from him. The investigation revealed Swamy, a black belt in karate, used sophisticated equipment to melt stolen gold and spent his earnings on personal vices. He even gifted a ₹3 crore flat to a female friend in Kolkata. Swamy, who was previously arrested in Maharashtra for a similar crime and released on bail in October 2024, had relocated to Bengaluru with an accomplice to plan further burglaries. His wife reportedly left him after discovering his criminal activities.
