**Namakkal, Tamil Nadu, February 5, 2025** – A tragic incident unfolded in Namakkal, Tamil Nadu, on Monday evening when a 10-year-old girl, Dhashini, was found dead in a pond located in a stone quarry. Dhashini, daughter of Ramalingam of Echamparai near R. Pudupatti, had left her home to relieve herself and did not return. After a frantic search by her parents, her body was discovered in the pond.
Namagiripet police were immediately notified and transported the body to Rasipuram Government Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
Following the incident, rumors circulated on social media alleging that Dhashini had been kidnapped by migrant workers. However, district police issued a statement clarifying that the girl’s death appeared to be accidental, resulting from a fall into the pond. Authorities issued a warning against the spread of misinformation on social media.
