Tue Feb 04 14:20:50 UTC 2025: ## Third Body Recovered from Visvesvaraya Canal After Car Plunge

**Mandya, Karnataka – February 4, 2025** – The body of the third victim from Monday’s car accident in Mandya has been recovered from the Visvesvaraya Canal. Peer Khan’s body was found approximately one kilometer from where the vehicle plunged into the canal near Tibbanahalli.

Four individuals were traveling from Pandavapura to Mandya when their car veered off the road and into the canal. One passenger, Nayaz, escaped; however, three others – Fayaz, Aslam, and Peer Khan – drowned. The search, hampered by strong currents and a 30-foot water depth, required the temporary halting of water release from the KRS reservoir to facilitate recovery efforts.

The bodies of Fayaz and Aslam were recovered on Monday, following the retrieval of the submerged car using a crane. Peer Khan’s body was discovered Tuesday.

Mandya Deputy Commissioner Kumar stated that the Visvesvaraya Canal spans 560 km across the district and that safety barricades will be erected at accident-prone locations to prevent future incidents.
