**Chennai, February 4, 2025** – An AK-47 rifle and 30 rounds of ammunition were recovered from Mount Poonamallee Road near MIOT Hospital in Chennai on Monday night. A vigilant resident, K. Sivaraj, discovered the weapon and ammunition lying on the road and immediately alerted the Ramapuram police.
Police investigations revealed that the weapon belonged to the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). The rifle and ammunition had fallen from a CRPF vehicle transporting personnel from the Poonamallee battalion to Raj Bhavan. The Ramapuram police subsequently returned the recovered items to the CRPF.
