**BLOOMINGTON, IN** – Indiana University’s football program has landed its first commitment for the 2026 recruiting class: three-star offensive lineman Samuel Simpson from River Falls, Wisconsin. Simpson, ranked as the No. 1 player in Wisconsin and No. 47 interior offensive lineman nationally by the On3 Industry Ranking, announced his decision on Saturday.
The 6-foot-4, 275-pound Simpson chose the Hoosiers over a number of prominent programs, including Iowa, Iowa State, Wisconsin, Kansas, and Illinois. His commitment comes after a whirlwind week; Indiana offensive line coach Bob Bostad visited Simpson earlier this week, extended an offer on Friday, and secured the commitment during a visit to Bloomington.
“I am grateful for the opportunity Indiana Football, Coach (Curt) Cignetti, and Coach (Bob) Bostad have given me in playing B1G football and further my academics at the University of Indiana,” Simpson stated on X.
Simpson’s commitment is a significant boost for Indiana’s recruiting efforts, especially considering the Hoosiers’ 2024 recruiting class, while successful on the field, wasn’t as strong on the recruiting trail. Their 2025 class currently ranks No. 49 nationally. The addition of Simpson, the first member of the 2026 class, sets a positive tone for future recruiting cycles.
