HYDERABAD, INDIA – Indian batsman Sanju Samson will be sidelined for six weeks due to a fractured finger. The injury occurred during the fifth T20I match against England when a delivery from Jofra Archer struck his index finger. Despite the pain, Samson managed to hit a six and a four in the same over before retiring hurt. Scans later revealed a fracture.

Samson has returned to his home in Thiruvananthapuram for recovery. He will begin rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy before resuming practice. This injury will rule him out of the Ranji Trophy quarterfinals between Kerala and Jammu and Kashmir.

BCCI sources stated that Samson requires 5-6 weeks to recover, making his participation in the Ranji Trophy match (February 8th) impossible.
