Mon Feb 03 23:38:28 IST 2025: ## Tamil Nadu Opposition Leader Criticizes State Government Over Power Plant and Law and Order Issues

**Chennai, February 4, 2025** – PMK president Anbumani Ramadoss launched a scathing attack on the Tamil Nadu state government Monday, criticizing its handling of a new power plant and expressing deep concerns over a deteriorating law and order situation.

Ramadoss questioned the lack of electricity generation from the newly inaugurated North Chennai Thermal Power Plant III, a Rs. 10,158 crore project. He claimed that despite its March 7, 2024 inauguration, the plant has generated less than 100 crore units of electricity in over a year, far below its potential of 1200 crore units. He attributed this failure to alleged corruption and mismanagement within the Electricity Board, suggesting the government prioritizes purchasing power from private companies at higher prices. He further highlighted the plant’s incomplete infrastructure, including lacking coal handling facilities, as contributing factors.

Separately, Ramadoss condemned the petrol bomb attack on a Ranipet police station, characterizing it as evidence of a complete breakdown in law and order. He accused the state police of being ineffective and acting as puppets of the ruling party, leading to a rise in crime and a loss of public confidence. He contrasted the current state of the Tamil Nadu police with its past reputation, once considered comparable to Scotland Yard. He demanded strict action against those responsible for the attack and for the government to address the wider law and order concerns.
